Resources for Students

The Office of Student Assistance works with campus departments to identify students that may be impacted by the loss of another student. Student Assistance will reach out to those students and offer support and assistance by identifying a network of support and resources that will assist the student as they grieve.

Instructor Notifications

The Office of Student Assistance informs faculty when a student death may affect a student’s class attendance. Students are advised to reach out personally to their instructors to discuss absences and make-up options. All final decisions about absences, make-up assignments, and accommodations are left to the discretion of each individual instructor. Students can work with staff in Student Assistance to discuss how to share with faculty what they may be experiencing and options that are available to them.
