"Donovan Jordan Jenks of Ames was a graduate assistant/PhD student in chemistry. He attended kindergarten to grade 12 in Gilbert, Iowa. The advanced placement program let him begin ISU chemistry coursework in high school. At graduation from Gilbert High in May 2015, ISU awarded him the Cardinal Leadership Award, President’s Award for Competitive Excellence, and Hach Memorial Fund Scholarship, given to a freshman chemistry major based on “scholarship, character, cooperation and aspiration…to make a contribution to the chemical/teaching profession.” In fall 2015 Donovan began undergraduate studies at ISU, with many hours of chemistry research for credit in fall/spring and paid fellowship in summer. He also served as a chemistry tutor. Donovan received his Bachelor of Science in chemistry in December 2019. In fall 2020, Donovan began PhD chemistry coursework. He considered his chemistry work his greatest accomplishment & was proud to be recognized by the American Chemistry Society."
